I always had square floor toms 14 s and 16 s.

My 5 ply keller 14x14 floor tom is really good.
I too have a 14x12 floor tom to go with it but a 14x14 16x14 should be fine and your floors would probably sound great.
And since my floor tom is 16x16 and it really rumbles quite a bit i was wondering if a 16x14 would be just as low but not rumble so much.
Plenty of bottom and tone and doesn t mudd up at all as a 16x16 sometimes will when tuned low.
I use a 16x14 floor tom and it s perfect.
The action just seems a little better with the shorter depth and it punches really nice.

Now i have a kit with the same size mounted toms you mention with 14x12 and 16x14 floors and they are by far the best balanced and best sounding drums i ve ever had or experienced.
This is a great addition to any kit and sounds excellent with deep warm maple tones or tuned high for a nice jazz tom.

I can only compare two sizes 15x16 which is the size for my 97 premier apk floor tom and a 16x16.
I prefer under square floors most of the time but i have some square sized floors that are really good.
