Chipboard flooring with tongue and groove joints is commonly available for flooring applications. They are relatively cheap and quick to lay. Your sub floor joists should be at 400mm centres meaning the edge of the boards always falls on a joist too. Its moisture resistance means it remains dry and resists attack from damp and mould.

The boards are nailed screwed or secured down with specialist adhesive. If the tile floor has wide or deep seams use an underlayment rather than installing the vinyl directly on the tile. Chipboard also know as particle board is an engineered sheet wood made from small wood chippings bound together by a synthetic resin. Cracked or missing tiles should be fixed or filled in.
